Caring for the Transgender Survivor

FCASV is pleased to offer on May 19, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., a webinar titled: Caring for the Transgender Survivor. To learn more, read the training description below and the presenter’s short bio.
Registration will be limited to 60.
This training will boost providers confidence and cultural competence when caring for a transgender survivor. The primary audience is SANEs; however, advocates, law enforcement and other sexual assault response disciplines are welcome to register. Two nursing contact hours will be provided for nurses who attend the full two hours. Other attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. There is no cost for the training.
At the conclusion of the training, the learner will have an increased knowledge of:
- The vulnerability and risk of sexual violence for the LGBTQ+ community
- How to communicate and provide health care in an open and non-judgmental manner
- Hormonal and surgical options and the physical, emotional, psychological impact
- How to adapt a physical exam and evidence collection for a survivor who has undergone gender-affirming health care
PRESENTER: ERIK SIMON, BA, MA
Erik Simon (he/him) is the Trans Health Coordinator at Clinical Practice Resources, https://clinicalpracticeresources.com and serves as the Chair of the newly-formed Trans Health Committee at the International Gynecological Teaching Associate (GTA)/Male Urogenital Teaching Associate (MUTA) Association (IGMA). He served as co-owner/founder of BellaVita Wellness in NYC from 2012-2015, and runs his own touch therapy practice with a focus in supporting LGBTQ+ clients with reiki, cuddle therapy, and meditation.
